Terms of use
Last updated 5 November 2026
Draft. Items marked “To confirm” must be completed by the platform administrators before this page is relied on.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the MCA Class Platform (“the platform”), which is run by To confirm: who runs the platform. By signing in you agree to them and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Who can use it
The platform is for members of the MCA class, their faculty, and guests the administrators invite. You can sign in only with a Google account whose email address the administrators have added to the class allow-list. Your role (student, contributor, faculty, admin or guest) decides what you can do.
Your account
- Use your own account only. Do not share it, or let anyone else sign in as you.
- Keep your profile honest. Use your real name, and do not pretend to be another person.
- You are responsible for what is done through your account. Sign out on shared computers, and tell the administrators at once if you think someone else has used your account.
- Keep your Google account secure. The platform relies on Google to confirm who you are.
Acceptable use
Use the platform for study and class activities. Be respectful in chat, the forum, comments and project spaces, and use the report button for anything that breaks these terms.
Prohibited activities
- Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, sexual content, or content that is unlawful or defamatory.
- Spam, advertising, or flooding chat and the forum.
- Uploading pirated textbooks, paid course material or anything else you do not have the right to share.
- Sharing exam answers during an exam, or any other academic dishonesty that breaks your institution’s rules.
- Posting other people’s personal information, or passing on files that were shared privately with you, without their permission.
- Uploading malware or harmful files, or trying to get round file-type, size or access checks.
- Trying to reach accounts, files or admin features you have not been given. That includes probing the site for weaknesses, or scraping or overloading it.
- Using the Code lab for anything but learning: mining, network attacks, trying to escape its limits or read other people’s runs.
- Copying someone else’s solution during a contest, or sharing solutions while a contest is running.
- Using the AI tutor or other features to produce content that breaks these rules.
Uploads and sharing
- Upload only material you have the right to share: your own notes, assignments and project work, previous question papers and their solutions, open-licence books, and links to official sources.
- Library resources, past papers, gallery photos, announcement attachments and chat attachments (including in direct messages) can be opened by any signed-in member who has the link. Do not attach anything to chat that you would not show the whole class.
- My Drive files and assignment submissions are private to you and the people you share them with, or who grade them. You are responsible for what you choose to share.
- Student uploads to the library are reviewed before they are published. Administrators and moderators can reject, hide or remove any content that breaks these terms.
- Uploads are limited to certain file types and to file-size and storage limits set by the administrators.
Your content and intellectual property
- You keep ownership of what you create and upload.
- By posting or uploading to a shared space, you allow the platform and its members to store, display, copy and download that content for study within the platform. Content you shared with the class may stay available after you leave (see the privacy policy for what account deletion removes).
- Respect other people’s copyright. Material shared by classmates and faculty is for your own study; do not republish it outside the platform without permission.
- To report material that infringes your rights, use the report button or contact To confirm: contact email address. Infringing material is removed.
Suspension and termination
- Administrators can remove content and suspend (ban) accounts that break these terms or the institution’s rules. A suspended account cannot sign in.
- Administrators can change your role or remove your email address from the allow-list, for example when you leave the class.
- You can stop using the platform at any time, and close your account with Delete my data in Settings.
- To appeal a suspension, contact To confirm: contact email address.
Limitations
- Material is shared by classmates and faculty and may contain mistakes. Always check it against the official syllabus and your faculty’s instructions.
- AI tutor answers are generated automatically from class notes and can be wrong. Do not rely on them alone.
- The platform is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. Features may change, be switched off or stop working, and data may be lost. Keep your own copies of anything important, especially assignment work.
- To the extent the law allows, the people who run the platform are not liable for losses arising from its use or from content posted by other users.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The new version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. If you keep using the platform after a change, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by To confirm: the governing law and courts.
